Description
Inspired by the motion picture, John Carter [of Mars] . This movie from 2012 has been given more criticism for its enormous budget than for the fact that it deserved to make back 3 or 4 more times what was spent on it. Its a classic style epic fantasy sci-fi romance loaded with humor and a complex but understandable story. Based on Edgar Rice Burroughs' 1912 novel, A Princess of Mars.
I was inspired to do this piece as a way of bringing more attention to the film and building up its fan base, already quite strong. The fan base is already set to make this movie a wildly successful cult classic. If you'd like to learn more and to get to know why so many fans love the film, there is a movement afoot to bring the planned two sequels that finish up the story. A whole group of fans initiating a letter writing campaign, a push for the DVD/Blu-ray release, and a petition among other things.

Thanks so much, Debi! It was a labor of love for me. I was encouraged to do the painting by a group of people on Facebook who are dedicated to trying to turn this movie around from the flop that just got the Studio chairman fired (really, for his terrible marketing and sabotage of the film than for the film itself IMO). The movie has an enormously vocal and growing fan base and as a matter of fact, the ones who were lucky enough to live in the Hollywood area were present last night at Disney's flagship theatre The El-Capitan and they managed to do something that has never been done before. More people showed up on the movie's last day than on the first!
