Another in my series where I try and depict songs through the painted image. I've always liked Jim Croce's story songs, and have especially liked the humor of this song. If you look, you'll see I changed the name of the car wash to "Croce's" (from "Cole's" which was the original name). Croce also makes reference in the song about the guy being an "undiscovered Howard Hughes". I put Howard Hughes with Jean Harlow by his side into the painting and a representation of Jim Croce himself as one of the car wash guys.
I consider myself primarily an illustrator. I never quite fit in with others, so I grew up isolated and found much of my comfort in movies, comic books, music, and books. My artistic influences include fantasy illustrators from the "Brandywine" school of Howard Pyle to the best comic book artists of today. I get my inspiration from such widely diverse sources as the absurd, music, classic movies, myth, pin-up, fantasy literature, and my Catholic sensibilities.
