Description
In 1943, the first of three little known Universal monster movies based on the character of Paula, the Ape Woman, was released. It was a twist on the Frankenstein monster in that a Gorilla named Cheela was operated on and given human female hormones to turn the ape into a human woman with disastrous results. For the first two movies, model Acquanetta portrayed Paula, a woman with a past ... a past AS a Gorilla! lol! In the third movie, Vicky Lane played Paula and Rondo Hatton, also known as the Creeper, made his film debut. The three films are Captive Wild Woman (1943), Jungle Woman (1944), and Jungle Captive (1945).
