In 1980, when TV Guide was still digest size, I saw this small photo in the magazine and a write-up for Tracey Ross, then an actress on Ryan's Hope in its declining years. I never really even saw her on the program until after being captivated by her photo. After that, I'd occasionally set the VCR timer to watch it! (Still never quite got "into" the whole soap thing though!) Once finished, I sent the finished painting to Miss Ross and for my trouble, she had a photo taken of her on the set holding my painting and wrote me a wonderfully gracious thank you note. Since then, a little research tells me that she has worked on the soap opera Passions and is a devotee of Ayn Rand and her conservative philosophy. A very well read woman!
I consider myself primarily an illustrator. I never quite fit in with others, so I grew up isolated and found much of my comfort in movies, comic books, music, and books. My artistic influences include fantasy illustrators from the "Brandywine" school of Howard Pyle to the best comic book artists of today. I get my inspiration from such widely diverse sources as the absurd, music, classic movies, myth, pin-up, fantasy literature, and my Catholic sensibilities.
