Artist's Description
Previously I was asked to do a painting of Pope John Paul II in a meeting with Southern [US] writer Walker Percy. One of the references I used for that painting had Walker Percy seated by a lake and I really wanted to incorporate more of that image into the earlier painting. I really loved the lines in Mr Percy's face. So today, on a piece of "scrap" illustration board, I created this 6 inch by 9 and a half inch original multimedia drawing using some black ballpoint ink, colored pencil, acrylic paint and the white of the board to bring this image to you.It is a departure from my normal styles but I recently have seen more work done with ballpoint ink and I wanted to take a shot at that but still wanted to use some color.
About Bryan Bustard
I consider myself primarily an illustrator. I never quite fit in with others, so I grew up isolated and found much of my comfort in movies, comic books, music, and books. My artistic influences include fantasy illustrators from the "Brandywine" school of Howard Pyle to the best comic book artists of today. I get my inspiration from such widely diverse sources as the absurd, music, classic movies, myth, pin-up, fantasy literature, and my Catholic sensibilities. For a number of my original pieces, feel free to purchase some more modestly priced ones at my Etsy page. I may be adding more as time goes on. https://www.etsy.com/shop/bryanbartist?ref=hdr_shop_menu More than willing to do commissions, I am adept at portraiture of...
