I confess. I am not a football fan. But I truly appreciate great accomplishments and couldn't help but feel a little proud of a team just a few miles south of where I live. For months, a co-worker had asked me to do some trading card size artwork to sell of Clemson stars and I did that on Etsy. They still haven't sold, by the way! But since a lot of my work lately has been filled with color and motion, I decided to do yet another painting along that style, this time, with our local football heroes. And by the way, while I may not truly be a football fan. I love sports related movies! Go figure!
I consider myself primarily an illustrator. I never quite fit in with others, so I grew up isolated and found much of my comfort in movies, comic books, music, and books. My artistic influences include fantasy illustrators from the "Brandywine" school of Howard Pyle to the best comic book artists of today. I get my inspiration from such widely diverse sources as the absurd, music, classic movies, myth, pin-up, fantasy literature, and my Catholic sensibilities.
