Artist's Description
A friend had asked that I do some artwork based on superheroes in the comic books. Initially I did a couple of art trading cards, but could not get the detail I needed. However, I liked the idea and I had often thought of going through some of my older comic books from when I was a child and adapting the flatter images I saw in those old books into full fledged paintings. This was taken from a single panel of Adventure Comics drawn in 1972 by an artist named Bob Oksner.
About Bryan Bustard
I consider myself primarily an illustrator. I never quite fit in with others, so I grew up isolated and found much of my comfort in movies, comic books, music, and books. My artistic influences include fantasy illustrators from the "Brandywine" school of Howard Pyle to the best comic book artists of today. I get my inspiration from such widely diverse sources as the absurd, music, classic movies, myth, pin-up, fantasy literature, and my Catholic sensibilities.
